THE PROBLEM

You've read the articles. You've tried the planners. You've heard "just try harder" more times than you can count.

But has anyone ever actually explained why the ADHD brain does what it does?

Why you can hyperfocus for six hours on something fascinating, then can't start a five-minute task that matters. Why boredom feels physically painful. Why a small comment can knock you sideways for the rest of the day.

There's a reason for all of it.

And once you understand it, the shame starts losing its grip.

WHAT THIS IS

Know Your ADHD Brain is a 4-session online ADHD education class, not therapy and not a coaching program. It's the clear, science-based explanation of ADHD that many of us never got.

Each week covers one piece of how the ADHD brain works, in plain language with real-life examples. We start by naming something true (and a little de-shaming), learn the core concept, and close with one small thing to notice before next week. No homework pile.

Your Brain, Explained

What executive functioning really is, why ADHD is a problem of self-regulation (not intelligence or effort), and why the ADHD brain runs on interest, not importance.

The Biology Behind It

Dopamine, brain structure and genetics: the neuroscience of ADHD, minus the jargon.

Your Emotions Make Sense

Why ADHD emotions hit bigger and faster, what "flipping your lid" means, and why emotional dysregulation isn't a character flaw.

Your Nervous System, Explained

How the nervous system and sensory system shape focus, energy and reactions in ADHD; how the ADHD brain takes in information (top-down vs. bottom-up processing) and turns it into meaning (the Ladder of Perception); and why regulation comes before productivity.

Love someone with ADHD? This class is for you, too.

If you're the parent of a child, teen or adult child with ADHD, the partner or spouse of someone with ADHD, or a family member or friend who wants to understand — this is one of the most useful places to start.

Understanding how the ADHD brain works changes how you see everyday moments: the missed deadlines, the big emotions, the "why can't they just start?" You'll learn why ADHD is a difference in self-regulation — not a lack of effort, intelligence or caring — and that understanding makes it easier to respond with compassion instead of frustration.

Many parents and partners tell me the biggest shift is moving from "Why won't they?" to "Oh — that's why they can't right now." That's where better conversations, and better support, begin.

You'll leave with

  • Language for ADHD, so you can explain it to yourself, your family or the person you love

  • A clear understanding of why strategies that work for other brains often don't work for ADHD brains

  • More self-compassion (and compassion for your loved one), grounded in science rather than platitudes

  • A foundation for building ADHD tools and strategies that actually fit

Who it's for

  • Adults with ADHD — newly diagnosed, self-identified, or living with it for years — who want ADHD explained clearly

  • Parents of children, teens or adult children with ADHD who want to understand how their child's brain works

  • Partners, spouses and family members of someone with ADHD

  • Anyone, anywhere in the world, who wants a science-based, strengths-focused understanding of ADHD

FAQ

Is this therapy or coaching?

Neither. It's ADHD education. We'll discuss real experiences, but the focus is understanding how the ADHD brain works.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis?

No. If you suspect ADHD or love someone who has it, you're welcome.

I'm a parent. Is this a parenting class?

It's an ADHD education class, not a parenting program — but parents tell me it's one of the most helpful things they've done. Understanding how your child's ADHD brain works makes everyday support easier and kinder. The class is for adults; you'll take what you learn home.

Can I join from outside the US?

Yes — this is an online ADHD class open worldwide. Check "Find your local time" above. Every session is recorded, so you can watch on your own schedule.

What if I miss a session?

Every session is recorded and sent to you within 24 hours.

What comes next?

If you want to turn this understanding into ADHD tools that fit, Work With Your ADHD Brain starts Jan 11, 2027 at the same US time. It's the Strengths Toolbox group, where you build a personalized toolkit. It's optional and can be taken on its own.

This program is educational and does not replace medical or mental health care.
